Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Person County Criminal History does not operate, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official custodians, including the Person County Clerk of Superior Court, the Person County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes shown on some pages. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. We do not control a partner's retention or disclosure practices, so review its terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Person County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina court and agency pages, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads.

We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to these limited recipients:

We use standard safeguards for information in our care. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information has been submitted, notify us so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where a visitor lives. In North Carolina, the North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies, while G.S. 114-19 limits dissemination of SBI criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private site's visitor data into a government criminal-history record. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate information
- Seek a copy of information maintained about you
- Object to certain forms of processing where the law provides that choice
